Great eco-friendly (Green) things to do with your eggshells.

For starters you can ssprinkle the shells around your garden to help keep pests out like like slugs or snails, they don't like crawling over the sharp  pieces of shell.  I also toss some of them into my compost bin.
Use them to start seedlings, they are great for that and for the plant its self.   Plus you dont have all those trays left over when your done. Don't forget to use your egg carton to hold them.

Oh and first aid treatment-  Fresh egg membranes applied, then allowed to dry, will “draw” minor infections: splinter, pimple, boil, etc.  I know sounds funny but it works.

Crushed egg shells work great to scrub pans that have food stuck in them. Yes they will break up, but they still do the job and when you have  nothing at that moment cause you forgot to bring something with you camping  per say...then this is great.

This is one that I have read but have yet to try it.  Make it into a powder and add a little bit to your nail polish to strengthen nails. Take that same powder and put it into ice cube trays with water and rub it on your face– it helps reduce the look of wrinkles. Put the powder in your lotion– it softens your hands.   Doesn't sound like it could hurt anything.

House Plant Booster, My Grandmother Domaslay kept eggshells covered with water in a mason jar and she used to water her plants with it.

I would like to add one more thing... you will do better to use your own eggs or lets say not store bought as often as possible.  The eggs are week in everything and who knows if they are caring bad germs.  Not sure if I said that right, but I think you can get what I'm saying.  Buy from your local small farmer to help you and them.   Free range eggs are only free if they are not pinned up.

I hope this short incite gives you some ideas.    Send me some of yours and I will gladly share them with everyone.

Have a sun shinny day.

Nature of Pagainism clip

Orange home made candle.

Hello my friends. I hope this finds you having a great day or evening what ever the case maybe.  Here is some thing fun to do that spells great and it is also eco friendly.   And we all love that.  :-)
Peel off the top of the orange, then gently get the natural wick at the center.  Twist it slightly into the right shape . Add a bit of olive oil, burn the wick and you have a 100% organic candle.   This is something you can so with kids too.  Not little kids of course.

More tips on keeping cool in this heat.

Hello friends,   here is a few  more tips to help you keep cool on this nice hot day.
lets start with a cheap spray bottle - fill it with water, adjust it to fine mist and spray it on your exposed skin for an instant chill-zing cooling effect.
-Wear a bandana with water soaked on it and put it on your head. Or you can relive the 80's and wear a wet terrycloth headband on your forehead.
-Run cold water over your wrists for 10 seconds on each hand. This will reduce your temperature for roughly an hour.
-Fill your bathtub with cool water and get in. Once you are used to the temperature, let some water out and refill with cold water. Keep doing this until you are sufficiently cold. Your body will stay cool for a long time after you get out. For a fast cool-down, add ice!
-Wear nothing. If you're in a situation where you can go without clothes, this can be the most comfortable and natural way to stay cool.

Well I wish I knew if this was true, I'm thinking of trying it out for myself. This is the info that I got from rawforbeauty.  Tell me what you think.
"The fast food displayed in the photo below is now 2 years old. The word 'food' is questionable since the bread-like and meat-like substances have not molded or spoiled in any way. Bugs won't even bother with it."

Record Crowds at Stonehenge

The Times reports that there were 36,500 people at Stonehenge for yesterday morning’s Summer Solstice Sunrise. Sadly, the sun remained hidden behind the clouds.
As much as I’d love to see a Solstice sunrise at Stonehenge, with those crowds I’m not sure I really want   to be there!
This photo is from the Daily Mail.

Super Moon ! in real life

My Son-in-law took this great photo of the super moon tonight.  Great photo!

Thousands Gather To Celebrate Summer Solstice At Stonehenge

Thousands Gather To Celebrate Summer Solstice At Stonehenge
AMESBURY, ENGLAND - JUNE 20: Revellers walks towards Stonehenge to celebrate the arrival of the midsummer dawn at the megalithic monument of Stonehenge on June 20, 2013 near Amesbury, England. Despite cloudy skies, thousands of revellers gathered at the 5,000 year old stone circle in Wiltshire to see the sunrise on the Summer Solstice dawn. The solstice sunrise marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. (Photo by Matt Cardy/Getty Images)
I would have loved to been there to see with my own eyes.

Keeping cool tips.

Here are just a few tips to help keep you cool when the temps get to high .  Here is one I use for sleeping,

(1)  Put a small pillow in the freezer an hour or two before you go to bed. Put a few plastic shopping bags over it to keep ice from forming on the fabric when its in the freezer.  I have a long thin bean pillow and a corn pillow I keep in the freezer along some jel packs.  They are great for many things including ( now this is just me) coming in from cutting grass- toss the bean pillow around my neck on my head and sometimes under my boobs.  Oh this is a nice way to cool off. And at no cost I might add.

(2)  Use silk or satin pillowcases, and satin sheets. These fabrics will feel smoother and cooler as you sleep. They are very nice and you are worth it.

(3)  If you wake up too hot, consider how many coverings are on the bed.  I tend to have a lot, I like the weight of them even in the summer -  maybe sleep uncovered,  or just  1 sheet.

(4)  Wet all your hair, or just all along the hairline in a pinch. The evaporation of the water will cool your head (though it may make your hair a bit frizzy if it's curly!).

Well that is just a few for today.  I hope that gives some incite to someone to help you stay cooler.

Summer Solstice 2013: Longest Day Of Year Begins Thursday, June 20

Summer Solstice 2013: Longest Day Of Year Begins Today Thursday, June 20

The longest day of 2013 is finally here -- but this year, it comes with a twist.
While the solstice in the northern hemisphere traditionally falls on June 21 -- and this year it will occur on that date at 1:04 a.m. EDT -- it will begin on Thursday, June 20, for parts of the western U.S., according to the website of the Clark Planetarium. The time of the solstice depends upon your position on Earth and, as a consequence, where you are in relation to the sun.
The summer solstice occurs when Earth's axis is the most tilted toward the sun -- the angle is known as "maximum axial tilt." As a consequence of this specific orientation, the sun rises at its most northeasterly point along the horizon and also sets at its most northwesterly point in the northern hemisphere.
The solstice isn't the only big celestial event this week. Skywatchers are gearing up for the arrival of the 2013 supermoon, which is set to peak June 22-23 and deliver the biggest, brightest moon of the year.

Happy Father's Day.

Cleaning tip for the day.

Another easy cleaning tip.
How to clean your cookie sheets--Kitchen "Miracle" Cleaner! You put about 1/4 cup of baking soda in a small glass bowl and squirt in hydrogen peroxide until it makes a nice paste. Then you rub it on the offending dirt/stain/grease...whatever! You can usually just use your fingers...but you can also use a small sponge as well.

Lets do a few things to get us going GREEN.

Yea  we keep hearing people talk, and it sounds like a real hassle... but its not.  Here are just a few simple way just to start going green. The very first changes I made on my journey towards more green living was to switch to homemade and non-toxic cleaners for my home, so it's one of the first things I recommend to anyone who is interested in making green changes in their family's life.
Get back to basic and safe money while your at it too.

All Purpose Cleaner:
1/2 cup Warm Water
1/2 cup Vinegar
2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
It’s great for wiping down counters, and is especially useful during the cold and flu season, I squirt a cloth with it, then go around the house wiping down door knobs and light switches.

Grease Cutter:
2 Cups warm water
1/4 Cup Castile Soap
10 Drops essential oil, we use Lemon
Mix together in a spray bottle and spray on surface, let sit for a few seconds then wipe off with a damp sponge.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner:
1 Cup Borax
1/4 Cup Vinegar
Mix together in a cup then pour into toilet. Let sit for 15 min, then scrub. Works great, I’ve also used plain old liquid dish detergent and it worked fine too, the borax give you a bit more scrubbing power
Carpet Re-Fresher:
About once a month, I sprinkle baking soda all over the carpet, leave it for about 30 minutes then vacuum it up. It pulls out any smells, and leaves the carpet nice and fresh!   I have a 4lb dog and a 15 lb cat so I do this just about every time I am getting ready to run the sweeper.

These are simple and easy changes you can make over the next year that can have a big impact on effect that your family’s life has on the planet. You can definitely start small with vowing to make just one or two of these changes this year, or maybe you’re already doing a few of these, and would like to try to do the rest of them over the course of this year

What Im hoping to do on this Blog.

Ok well this is just a few things that I am hoping to put on this blog and to share with others... after I learn how to use this.  Lol  I'm slow when it comes to these things.  Any way I want category with things to do with:
Going Green
Vegan
Gardening
Crafting (art-stamping- painting and more) lots of goodies here.
Pagan/witchcraft
and anything that sounds good that day or is brought up to me.
Any hints on how to get started are well taken.
Thank you and bright blessings to you and yours.  )0(
